How to Change the Diaper of a Fussy Infant
from wikiHow – The How to Manual That You Can edit
Parents know that trying to change the diaper of a fussy, grouchy, tired, baby who keeps throwing a tantrum, or running away can be an incredibly difficult and challenging task….here is an easy fix. This may sound like an easy how to, but many parents have trouble with this task.
Steps
- Change the child standing up. Letting the child stand gives him or her a sense of autonomy so he or she is less likely to fight the parent. The process is over quickly and the child can resume playing.
- Place the child standing in front of you either on the floor or on a changing table.
- Undress, or unsnap the garment the child is wearing.
- Remove the wet diaper.
- Use wipes as needed.
- Put on a new diaper.
- Put the garment back on or re-snap the garment the child was wearing.
- Let the much less traumatized child resume playing.
Tips
- If the baby wants to, let baby hold on to your neck or shoulders for a sense of security.
- This also works fabulously in public restrooms when you don’t want to lay your child down a changing table which might be dirty.
Warnings
- This approach may not be viable for heavily soiled diapers.
